Lead Monoxide or ‘Litharge’
(PbO)
|
Used primary in electro photographic plates, as well as ferromagnetic and ferroelectric materials. It is also used in capacitators and has found usage in the manufacture of lead stabilizers (Lead Stearates), pottery, Lead glass paints enamels and inks.

Black or Grey Lead Oxide
(PbO2)
|
Used in an extensive scale for preparationof plates in lead acid batteries which requires production to strict specifications. It is by far the most dominant application amongst the lead oxides. Oxides for battery applications can be further broken down into three major types of batteries – (1) SLI (Starting, Lighting, Ignition) (2) Traction Batteries (3) Stationery Batteries
